On this project, we were asked to take another contractors boring attempt at a bar and turn it into a real bar. After getting input form the homeowners, we brought our team’s experience in trimwork and building bars and transformed the existing cabinets and counter top into a bar. This is a good example of higher standards, better results which you can expect from Louisville Handyman.

Before 1 — Notice the lack of any bar trim around the counter top and the skimpy supports by the other guys.

Before 2: – Again skimpy supports and a boring flat back on the cabinets..yuck!

After 1: In designing the new bar, we focused on adding to the existing cabinets and counter top, thus saving our homeowners the expense of starting from scratch. As a first step, we added a nice bar trim around the outside of the existing counter top. Next we turned the flat backs on the cabinets into a paneled look.

After 2: Last, we replaced the skimpy metal brackets from the other guys with maple corbels to complete the transformation. A bar is born!
